Enjoyment of Life
When we strive to enjoy whatever it is we set out to involve ourselves in, and are doing something with such enjoyment that you don’t notice that time passes, this is when you learn and experience the most from life.
To some extent, our interpretation of true enjoyment has been hijacked by modern society. As a result, many believe it can’t be attained unless certain motivators such as Money, Prestige, Performance, Power, Approval and Status are involved.
There’s no denying that these things can be rewarding, but they’re all temporary. They lack the capacity to provide any kind of lasting enjoyment. Making any of these our primary driving force for whatever we choose to pursue may set us up for disappointment.
I do however think that we need to slow down sometimes and consider focusing on the internal and what brings real joy to our lives. The “being”, which allows us to be present as opposed to the “doing”, which if merely a time measured effort.
Being present in the moment
For me, I sometimes have to be reminded of what it feels like to be present and nothing does it more for me than a piece of art that depicts expressions of a life enjoyed.
Artwork plays a very special role in our lives. They provide us with enjoyment and inspiration. They help us to recall important and memorable events of the past. They help us to relax when the time is right and to exert ourselves when appropriate. Art, in short, helps us to live and makes life more enjoyable.
My favourite artist is a local South African Artist called Ronald West whose range of art comes in all forms of products and is available at Goodiez. Click on any of the product categories to view the entire range:
